Brett received his bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Kansas in 2001, followed by a master’s degree in 2003.

After working for one year in a research lab, Brett started medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 2008.  Brett then completed his Internal Medicine residency at The University of Iowa in 2011.  Following completion of his chief residency year, he plans on an Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.

Brett and his wife Kate have two young daughters who keep them very busy. However, he still finds time to brew and drink craft beer.
