Dianna Edwards, MD

University of Iowa 2011

Dianna was born and raised on a farm in rural Iowa. Growing up in a medically underserved area sparked Dianna’s interest in pursuing a career in medicine. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Iowa, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychiatry in 2007. Dianna stayed in Iowa City to complete her medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Choosing to stay at Iowa for her medical training was an easy decision. Not only does the program provide a solid foundation for clinical medicine but also gives you access to master clinicians and outstanding research opportunities…not to mention the Iowa City area is a great place to live and raise a family.

While attending undergraduate school she met her husband, Jerome, who is a commercial lender. They welcomed their first child, Jarin, in June 2010 and their daughter, Jordanna, in July 2013. When she is not working, you can find her spending time with her family, gardening, doing projects around the house, and traveling.

Dianna continues to be very passionate and excited to practice medicine. She enjoys witnessing the interaction of the human body and disease on a daily basis. The variety and complexity of the pathophysiology and treatment of diseases leaves her eager to learn more after each patient encounter. As chief resident, she looks forward to guiding and mentoring residents to becoming compassionate, competent, lifelong learners. Following her year as Chief Resident, she plans to pursue a career in Hospitalist medicine.
