Yazan Hassan, MD

Jordan University of Science and Technology (2009)

Yazan grew up in the northern part of Jordan in a city called Irbid. After high school, he received his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 2009. After graduation, he worked as an intern for one year in two community hospitals in Irbid as part of mandatory training in Jordan. Then, he completed one year of internal medicine residency at King Abdulla University Hospital (JUST). Then he moved to Iowa in 2011 and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa in 2014. He is very glad he did his residency in a well-rounded program that provided him with excellent training, diverse pathology and a learning environment in a collegial atmosphere. He is very excited to have the chance to work with the residency program as a chief resident. Following his chief year, he is planning to pursue a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine.

Yazan met his wife Thara’ in medical school. They had their first daughter Tala in January 2014. He spends most of his free time with his family. He enjoys watching European soccer, outdoor activities with friends and eating Middle Eastern food.
